Don’t be shy about talking about genital herpes with your healthcare provider. It’s a common condition. But it’s lifelong; so you’ll need to manage it. You need to talk openly to get the best care.

Before talking to your healthcare provider, ask yourself if any of the following statements are true for you:
  • I want to increase my chance of being herpes outbreak-free.
  • My outbreaks are bothersome, annoying, and I don’t know when the next one will come.
  • My partner doesn’t have genital herpes, and I want to help keep it that way.

If even one of the 3 statements above is true for you, you may want to talk to your healthcare provider about the role a daily herpes medication can play in helping you manage your genital herpes. Even if you don’t get that many herpes outbreaks, daily therapy may be right for you. In fact, the CDC recommends daily medication as part of a plan to reduce the risk of spreading genital herpes.

Click on the printer-friendly link below for a printed copy of these statements to share with your healthcare provider.
